INCHYRA - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Inchcape, or more commonly Inchcape Rock, is a proper Scottish wreck dive, and one we absolutely love. It’s a shallow site, just 5 metres deep, meaning you can really take your time exploring the remains of the old Inchcape lighthouse tender. It’s not about grand vistas here; it’s about the details, the history, and the way the sea reclaims things. We’ve spent hours poking around the scattered hull plates, trying to piece together the ship’s original layout. You’ll spot crab scuttling into crevices, the occasional inquisitive blennie peering out, and often small schools of juvenile fish darting amongst the wreckage. The low visibility on some days just adds to the atmosphere, making it feel like a genuine archaeological expedition. It’s perfect for divers who appreciate history and don’t mind a bit of a treasure hunt over a speedy drift. We’d suggest going at slack tide for the best visibility, which can often push 5-6 metres on a good day, but be prepared for it to drop after heavy rain.
