JONES BK - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Jones BK is a proper deep dive, sitting at 36 metres off the Scottish East Coast. It’s a trawler, completely upside down, with its bow pointing north. We love how intact she is for a wreck of her age. It’s a big girl, 60 metres long, and the stern is a fantastic spot to explore, particularly the propeller. The deck house offers some penetration for those with the right training; we’d suggest good buoyancy and a torch are essential, as it gets dark in there. Visibility can be a real mixed bag here. We’ve had days where you can see the entire wreck, and others where it’s more of a hand-in-front-of-face affair. Best bet is to check the tides; slack water is key. Even when the vis isn’t stellar, the sheer amount of fish life makes it worthwhile. Shoals of saithe dart through the superstructure, and we often see conger eels tucked into the deeper recesses. It’s a site for experienced wreck divers, definitely not a beginner’s spot, but for those with the skills, it’s a rewarding dive.
