MAGICIENNE - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Magiecienne, on Scotland's east coast, isn't your typical wreck dive. At just two meters deep, this isn't about dramatic plunges or long bottom times. Instead, it’s a brilliant shore dive, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. We love how accessible it is, right off the beach. The schooner, stranded back in 1940, now sits broken but still recognisable, a ghostly skeleton on the seabed. You'll spend your time exploring its scattered timbers. The bow and stern sections are still distinct, and we've found the best light to be in the late morning, when the sun penetrates the shallow water. Keep an eye out for velvet swimming crabs scuttling amongst the frames and small blennies peeking from crevices. It’s a photographer’s dream for wide-angle shots, capturing the entire wreck against the rippling surface. The conditions here are usually calm, but visibility can drop after heavy rain, so pick a settled day. It's a peaceful spot, offering a slice of maritime history without the need for advanced skills.
