MORESBY - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Moresby, sitting at 40 metres, is one of our favourite deep wrecks on the Scottish East Coast. She's a fantastic dive for experienced divers, the kind of place you feel truly remote, with a cool stillness as you descend. What we love about the Moresby is the sheer size of her; you can spend a whole dive just exploring one section. Her bow points east, rising out of the seabed, draped in dead man's fingers and anemones. Look for the large propeller, often surrounded by schools of small saithe, and the remains of the deck machinery, now home to territorial velvet swimming crabs. Visibility here can be tricky, often settling around 5-10 metres, so good buoyancy and a strong torch are essential. We find the best time to dive her is on a slack tide, otherwise the current can make navigating the holds quite a challenge. She’s a proper expedition, a rewarding dive for those who appreciate history and the slow reclamation of steel by the sea.
