MORMILION FREDERICK - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The *Mormilion Frederick* isn’t about huge depths or massive pelagics. This is a five-metre wreck, a gentle introduction to cold water diving, especially if you’re coming from warmer climes. We love it because it’s so accessible, a perfect afternoon dive if you're in the area and fancy something a bit different. The wreck itself is scattered, having broken up over time, but there’s still plenty of structure to poke around. You'll find sections of hull, ribs, and machinery, all draped in a thick carpet of plumose anemones – pure white against the green murk, they really stand out. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for squat lobsters, and we often spot butterfish darting between the metalwork. It's an easy dive, virtually no current, making it ideal for photographers or newer divers getting comfortable with wreck penetration, albeit very shallow, open sections. Come prepared for the chill, even in summer, a good drysuit is a must.
