NYULA - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Diving the Nyula is a dive into a piece of wartime history, right off the Scottish East Coast. This former yacht, repurposed as a harbour defence craft for the Royal Navy, went down in 1941 after a collision. She sits at around 28 metres, surprisingly intact considering her age and the circumstances of her sinking. You can still make out the graceful lines of her yacht origins beneath the growth, now home to a decent population of crabs and some anenomes. It’s a good wreck for those who appreciate the story behind the metal, and while it's not a riot of colour, the historical weight of the Nyula gives it a quiet dignity. Expect strong currents at times, so pick your slack water window carefully.
