RAVENSBOURNE - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Ravensbourne, she's a proper British freighter, sitting upright at 42 metres, a real deep dive classic off the Scottish coast. We love a wreck that still looks like a ship, and this one delivers. You can drop onto her bow, swim back over the holds, and even poke your head into the superstructure. What makes her special? The sheer scale and the way the sea has reclaimed her. We’ve seen conger eels that look like small logs peeking from the deeper sections, and her decks are draped in dead man's fingers and anemones, a riot of orange and white against the dark steel. It’s cold down there, even in summer, but the visibility can be startlingly good – 15 metres isn't uncommon. We'd suggest hitting this one on a slack tide for the best chance to explore the holds without fighting a current. It's a dive for those with experience in deeper wreck diving, definitely not one for your first foray beyond 30m. Bring good lights; the ambient light barely reaches the cargo holds, adding to the atmospheric gloom.
