RENEN - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Renen, originally built as the Prospero in 1869, sits in 16 metres of water, a classic steamship wreck that’s been down for a long time. She's a good dive for those who enjoy history and don't mind a bit of a rummage. You'll find a single boiler and compound engine, which are usually the most intact sections, often attracting curious wrasse and crabs. It’s not a massive wreck, but there’s enough structure to explore for a good 40 minutes, especially if you take your time to peer into the nooks where plumose anemones might be swaying. We’d suggest this one for divers comfortable with colder water and perhaps a touch of murk, looking for a solid piece of maritime heritage.
