RUTH - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Ruth lies tucked in the shallows just east of May Island, a shallow dive at a max of 2 metres. This steamship, torpedoed in 1915 by a German U-boat, settled upright and, while broken, still has plenty of character for a relaxed exploration. We’ve found her a fantastic spot for photographers, especially when the light is good, creating interesting shadows and reflections. Look for the engine, still quite recognisable, and the propeller shaft stretching towards the stern. It's a peaceful spot for a long, shallow dive, with wrasse and small crabs making homes in the twisted metal.
