SALEM - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Salem, a wooden sailing vessel lost in 1914, sits off the Scottish East Coast. While the official depth is 0m, the actual remains are quite broken up, with sections scattered across the seabed. You’ll find ribs and hull timbers, now home to crabs scuttling in the crevices and wrasse darting between the decaying wood. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and the slow reclamation of the sea, rather than intact structures or big pelagics. We’d suggest this one for a calm day, when the visibility gives you a chance to truly pick through the fragments.
