SEDULOUS 2 - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Sedulous 2 sits upright on the seabed, a surprisingly intact fishing vessel from 1975 that we love exploring for its unique character. Dropping to 60 metres, it’s a dive for experienced technical divers, no question, but the rewards are there. We often find the visibility here can be surprisingly good, especially on a settled day. As you descend, the wheelhouse is often the first thing to emerge from the gloom, still largely complete. You can peer inside, imagining the crew on that January day it struck an unknown object. Further along the deck, the fishing gear is still evident – we’ve seen ghost nets draped across winches, offering a stark reminder of its working life and now providing shelter for crabs and blennies. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the prop is still in place, encrusted with anemones that sway in the gentle current. It’s a quiet, contemplative dive, more about soaking in the history than chasing big pelagics, though we’ve seen ling and wolfish lurking in the deeper holds. Be mindful of the depth and plan your deco accordingly; this isn't a site to rush.
