SHALIMAR II - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Shalimar II is a small fishing vessel, just shy of 12 metres, that found its end in 1982 after its tow line snapped near Warkworth Harbour. She grounded on the rocks and now sits in just two metres of water, so it’s more of a snorkel or very shallow dive for beginners. Despite the shallowness, the wreck offers some nice detail – we’ve seen the propeller, which was fouled at the time of her sinking, and the outline of the hull is still clear amongst the rocks. It’s a site best visited at slack water, making for an easy entry and a relaxed look around for those keen on some local history. You won't find anything huge here, but it's a calm spot to practice buoyancy and look for smaller critters that have made the wreck home.
