ST FERGUS - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Diving the St Fergus is a bit like stepping back in time, minus the time machine. This old steam trawler, which went down in 1885, still has some surprising bits of her hull and superstructure standing proud from the seabed. She’s not a deep dive, making her pretty accessible for most divers who are comfortable in chillier water. You’ll find squat lobsters tucked into every crevice, and often some decent-sized cod patrolling the decks. It’s a great site for seeing how quickly the ocean reclaims things, transforming an industrial vessel into a vibrant habitat.
