STAG 5 (PROBABLY) - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Dropping down onto the Stag 5, you're meeting a tug with a history. She went down in 1950, a proper workhorse built way back in 1897, and now she sits upright in 50 metres, a dark silhouette on the seabed. We often find her structure surprisingly intact for her age, with parts of the wheelhouse still discernible and the massive boiler a clear focal point. It's a dive for those who appreciate a bit of industrial archaeology, and while the light doesn't penetrate far at this depth, our torches always pick out plenty of squat lobsters tucked into every crevice, along with the occasional inquisitive conger eel. It’s a serious dive, best for experienced deep divers comfortable with colder water and limited visibility, but the sense of history is palpable.
