TYNE - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Tyne, a former houseboat and one-time headquarters for the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club, now rests in the shallows off the Scottish East Coast. Sunk under tow in 1949, she’s a gentle introduction to wreck diving, with a maximum depth of just two metres. We find her low profile offers plenty of nooks and crannies for crabs and small blennies to shelter. It’s an easy dive, perfect for newer divers, or anyone looking for a relaxed exploration of a piece of local history, rather than a deep wreck penetration. Visibility can shift with the tides, but on a good day, the timbers of this old vessel are clearly visible, home to various small fish darting amongst the remains.
