Wreck of Alictum - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Diving the *Alictum* off Scotland’s east coast is a different kind of wreck dive, a real journey into history rather than just a structure. We love how the silty seabed here preserves the details. You’ll spend your bottom time tracing the lines of a vessel that feels almost complete, with sections of hull still standing proud, creating dark nooks for conger eels to peek out from. It’s an immersive experience for those who appreciate maritime heritage, and we’d suggest a good dive light to really pick out the detail, even on brighter days. The *Alictum* isn't about tropical colours, it's about the deep greens and greys of the North Sea, the way the light filters down through the plankton, and the incredible feeling of connecting with the past. We've often found small crabs scuttling amongst the debris and the occasional inquisitive wrasse checking you out. Visibility can be a bit variable, so pick your day, but when it’s good, the sheer scale of the wreck against the dark background is impressive. This site is definitely for experienced divers who can appreciate a more contemplative dive, taking their time to explore and soak in the atmosphere.
