Wreck of Alma - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Wreck of Alma isn't about tropical fish, it’s about history, cold water, and the sheer grit of North Sea diving. We love it because it’s a proper wreck, one that feels truly lost to the deep. You’ll be dropping down into often murky green light, the kind that forces you to hug the hull, feeling for details rather than just seeing them. It’s an immersive experience for those who appreciate the chill and the challenge. When the visibility is kind, you can make out the lines of the old coaster, her bow still somewhat intact, though time and tide have taken their toll. What we really enjoy is exploring the cargo holds, now home to plump lobsters and enormous edible crabs that seem to eye you suspiciously from the shadows. Keep an eye out for conger eels too, often curled up in dark corners. This isn't a site for beginners; you need to be comfortable with limited visibility, colder temperatures, and a current that can pick up. Our top tip? Go on a slack tide, otherwise, you'll be flying past the best bits.
