Wreck of Alonzo - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Alonzo is a properly atmospheric dive. Drop down here and you’re immediately into a moody, silty world, often with visibility that keeps things intimate. We’re talking about an old steamship, broken but still substantial, with the bow and stern being our favourite sections to explore. You'll often find ling and conger eels tucked into the deeper recesses, and the ribs of the hull are draped in dead man's fingers, swaying gently in the surge. It’s a site that rewards careful navigation and a keen eye, perfect for those who appreciate history and the quiet drama of a cold-water wreck. We’d suggest timing your dive for slack water to really make the most of the penetration points. It's not a site for everyone, but if you love a good historical wreck without the crowds, the Alonzo delivers.
