Wreck of Beacon - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Wreck of Beacon isn't about tropical fish, it’s about history and atmosphere. Descending here, you’re often met with that green Scottish light, a muted filter that really makes the wreck feel like a forgotten secret. We love how the metalwork, a ghost of its former self, is slowly being reclaimed by the sea. Expect to find plenty of crabs scuttling over corroded plates and decent-sized wrasse peeking out from behind a bulkhead. What makes Beacon special for us is its tangible connection to the past. You can fin past what would have been crew quarters, imagine the engines, and really get a sense of the vessel. We'd suggest aiming for a slack tide, if you can time it right. It makes exploring the more intact sections, like the stern, much more relaxed. The visibility can be hit or miss, but even on an average day, the sheer presence of the wreck makes it worthwhile. It's a proper wreck dive, gritty and evocative, perfect for divers who appreciate maritime history over bright colours.
