Wreck of Beautiful Star - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Wreck of the Beautiful Star, nestled in the cold, green embrace of the Scottish East Coast, is less about vibrant coral and more about history whispering through steel. We love this site for its sheer gravitas. It’s a proper wreck dive, not just a pile of rubble. Drop down onto her and you’ll find yourself navigating through the superstructure, often with decent ambient light filtering in on brighter days. What makes her special? The scale. You can penetrate some of the larger holds, though we’d always suggest a reel and plenty of experience here. It’s a dark, silty environment inside, perfect for spotting the resident conger eels, their heads peering out from shadowed compartments. Outside, the metalwork has become a home for plumose anemones, their feathery white tentacles swaying gently with the surge, and the occasional ling or cod will eye you from deeper sections of the hull. This site suits divers who appreciate the solemn beauty of a well-preserved wreck and aren't afraid of chillier waters and a bit of a challenge. Our favourite time to dive her is on a calm, sunny day after a long dry spell; the visibility can genuinely surprise you then.
