Wreck of Beginning - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Wreck of Beginning isn’t about tropical fish and kaleidoscopic reefs. This is serious North Sea diving, a proper adventure that feels like stepping back in time. We love the chill it sends down your spine as the dark water closes in, and the wreck slowly materializes out of the gloom. It’s a ghost ship, really, the bow and stern still largely intact, the midships broken and scattered. You’ll find cod and ling patrolling the deeper sections, and if you’ve got a good torch, the small crabs scuttling over the metal plates are fun to watch. Our favourite is exploring the collapsed superstructure, imagining the ship's final moments. This site is for experienced cold-water wreckies who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a current. Go on a slack tide for the best visibility, but be prepared for a push sometimes.
