Wreck of Bolette - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The *Bolette* is an absolute belter, one of our favourite Scottish wrecks for sheer atmosphere. Dropping down onto her, you’re immediately struck by how intact she is – not just a pile of plates. You can make out the bow, the holds, even some of the superstructure. It’s eerie and fantastic, a proper time capsule. What we really love here is the light, even on a grey day. It filters down, illuminating the incredible colours that have colonised the wreck. Walls of plumose anemones smother the metalwork, swaying gently. You’ll find squat lobsters tucked into every crevice and a healthy population of wrasse flitting between the rusted beams. We always spot a conger or two, peeking out from a darker corner. This isn't a dive for the faint of heart, or total novices. Currents can be a real factor, so pick your slack water carefully. But for experienced wreck divers, it’s a brilliant exploration. It truly gives you a sense of history beneath the waves.
