Wreck of Christian - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Wreck of Christian isn’t for everyone. Let’s be clear, this isn’t a warm water drift over colourful reefs. But for those who love their wrecks moody, atmospheric, and a proper challenge, this is it. We’re talking about a late 19th-century steamship, broken but largely intact, sitting upright on the seabed. It’s got a real eerie quality, especially when the light filters down through the green Scottish water, catching the mast and the skeletal remains of the superstructure. What we love about Christian is the way the sea has reclaimed it. Anemones coat every surface, vibrant orange and white against the dark metal. Ling often lurk in the deeper holds, and we’ve spotted schools of saithe zipping through the open deck sections. The bow section is particularly good for exploration, with plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into. We'd suggest aiming for a slack tide and picking a day with minimal surge – it makes all the difference when you're trying to appreciate the scale of this old girl. It’s a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts, the ones who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a chill.
