Wreck of Commerce - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Forget your tropical visions, the Commerce is proper North Sea diving, and we absolutely love it for that. This isn't a sunny drift, it's a deep, dark plunge into history, sitting upright and surprisingly intact. We’re talking about a wreck that really tells a story, with its bow pointing seaward and the stern nestled against the seabed. As you descend, the sheer scale becomes apparent; the hold is wide open, inviting exploration. Our favourite part? The way the light filters down, or doesn't, through the silty water, making every swim-through feel like a genuine discovery. The Commerce has become a home, too. You’ll find dead man's fingers clinging to metal, and the occasional wolf fish peeking out from a shadowy crevice. We’ve even seen lobsters scuttling across the deck. It’s a dive for those who appreciate a bit of a challenge and the eerie beauty of a well-preserved wreck rather than a colourful reef. Visibility can be hit or miss, so pick a calm day if you can, and bring a good torch – you'll want it for peering into the holds. This is Scottish diving at its gritty best.
