Wreck of Eddraehilles - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Eddraehilles is one of our favourite Scottish wrecks for a reason: it’s got real character, even if the visibility can be a bit… moody. Dropping down, you’ll usually hit the bow first, often with schools of coalfish swirling around the mast that still stands defiant. We love poking around the engine room, which is surprisingly accessible, and the holds often shelter conger eels – some of them absolute monsters. What really makes Eddraehilles special is how it’s become a home. The wreck structure is thickly encrusted with dead man’s fingers and plumose anemones, especially on the sheltered side. Look closely in the nooks and crannies; we’ve found everything from squat lobsters to wolf fish here. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the history and the way the sea reclaims things, rather than expecting bright corals. Come prepared for cold water, but the reward is a genuinely atmospheric dive.
