Wreck of Fortitude - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Fortitude isn't about tropical colours; it's about atmosphere and history, a proper Scottish wreck dive. We've explored her a few times, and each dive feels like stepping back into a different era. Lying largely intact, you can make out the bow and stern clearly, with deck machinery still very much in place. Our favourite part is navigating the holds, which are surprisingly open and allow light to filter in, revealing huge shoals of juvenile pollack that swirl around you. We'd suggest getting there on a slack tide, otherwise, the current can really rip through, making the penetration tricky. It’s a site that rewards repeat visits, offering new perspectives on its structure and resident critters, like the plump ling tucked into crevices or the vibrant nudibranchs grazing on the metalwork. This wreck is perfect for divers who appreciate the story beneath the waves and don't mind a bit of a chill in the water.
