Wreck of Grizell - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Grizell isn’t about huge pelagics or technicolor reefs. This is Scottish wreck diving, pure and simple, and we love it for its moody atmosphere and tangible history. Dropping onto the deck of this old steam trawler feels like stepping back in time; the metalwork is still largely intact, draped in kelp that sways with the surge. You’ll find cod sheltering in the deeper holds, a few curious wrasse darting through the superstructure, and an abundance of those classic jewel anemones that thrive in our cooler waters, adding splashes of orange and pink to the otherwise monochrome scene. We think it’s a brilliant site for anyone comfortable with slightly cooler temperatures and keen to explore a piece of maritime heritage. Pick a day with minimal swell, if you can, and bring a good torch – some of the internal spaces are still accessible and really atmospheric.
