Wreck of Henry - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Diving the Henry is always a proper adventure, a real taste of North Sea wreck diving. We love that feeling of descending through the murk, the light fading, knowing you’re about to hit something solid, something with a story. She’s an old steam trawler, pretty broken up now, but you can still make out the boiler and parts of the engine. It’s a site that really makes you work for it, often with a good push from the current, but that just adds to the satisfaction when you fin around a section of twisted metal and find it absolutely swarming with squat lobsters, or a huge wolf fish staring out from a dark recess. We always suggest hitting it on a neap tide, right on slack water, to give yourself the best chance to properly poke around. Visibility can be a challenge, but on a good day, seeing those shoals of coalfish darting through the superstructure is just brilliant. It’s not a dive for the faint of heart, but for those who appreciate history and the rugged beauty of UK waters, the Henry is a firm favourite.
