Wreck of Michael Christiana - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Michael Christiana offers that classic North Sea wreck dive feel, a proper history lesson lying on the seabed. We love dropping down onto the forecastle, often finding a few curious pollack darting between the decaying metalwork. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery here, but on a good day, you can make out the anchor chains snaking across the sand, sometimes even spotting a lobster peering out from a crevice. Our favourite part is exploring the bridge area, where the wheelhouse structure is still discernible, home to an assortment of squat lobsters and the occasional dogfish tucked into the shadows. We'd suggest checking your tide times carefully; currents can pick up, making the dive less enjoyable if you’re not prepared. This wreck is perfect for those who appreciate the atmospheric, slightly eerie beauty of a historical vessel slowly being reclaimed by the ocean, rather than a riot of tropical colour. It’s a dive that rewards patience and a keen eye for the smaller residents.
