Wreck of Pallas - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Pallas wreck, lying off the Scottish East Coast, is less about vibrant colours and more about the sheer drama of maritime history. We love how the cold North Sea water preserves this old girl; it feels like diving into a time capsule. You descend onto a cargo ship, not broken into a million pieces, but still recognisable as a vessel that sailed these choppy waters. The sheer scale of it hits you, especially when you fin through a cargo hold, shafts of green light filtering down, illuminating the ghostly outlines of machinery. Our favourite part has to be the bow, still pointing resolutely seaward, often adorned with plumose anemones swaying gently in the subtle current. We’d suggest a good dive light to really pick out the details, and remember, the visibility here can be… moody, so pick a calm day if you can. This is a dive for those who appreciate the quiet dignity of a wreck and the resilient life that clings to it, rather than a busy coral reef.
