Wreck of Replenish - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Replenish isn’t just another sunken hull; it’s a time capsule, and one of our favourite dives when the conditions align. We’re talking about a wreck that has truly become part of the seabed, draped in a thick tapestry of plumose anemones and dead man’s fingers. Drop down and you’re immediately enveloped in that particular green-grey light of the North Sea, often with a school of saithe circling above. Our last visit saw us finning through clouds of juvenile coalfish, so thick they almost obscured the deck fittings. What we really love about the Replenish is the way it tells a story. You can still make out the machinery, the plates, and the ribs of the ship, all softened by decades underwater. We’d suggest focusing on the bow and stern sections; they tend to be the most intact and offer the best hiding spots for wrasse and even the occasional lobster. Keep an eye on the current here; it can pick up, so time your dive for slack water to truly appreciate the detail. It’s a site for those who appreciate history and the slow, relentless reclamation by the ocean, rather than a flashy wall of coral.
