Wreck of shipwreck possibly the Duna - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Okay, let's talk about the Duna, or what we strongly suspect is the Duna, off the Scottish East Coast. This isn't a tropical dive, obviously. We’re talking proper drysuit territory, a real commitment, but for those who love their history submerged, it’s brilliant. When the visibility cooperates, which is often surprisingly good here, you drop onto a substantial wreck. It’s well broken, a testament to years on the seabed and the North Sea’s power, but you can still make out the bones of a large cargo vessel. We love finning through the superstructure remains, picturing the decks as they once were. The stern section is our favourite, with its exposed propeller shaft and the way the hull plates peel back like forgotten pages. This wreck really attracts the fish. Shoals of saithe swirl around the deeper sections, and you’ll spot plenty of wrasse and blennies tucked into every crevice. We've even seen the odd inquisitive grey seal pass through, turning a good dive into a truly memorable one. It’s a dive for experienced cold-water wreck enthusiasts, for sure, those who appreciate the quiet drama of a historical site reclaimed by the sea. Just be prepared for the currents, they can pick up, so timing your slack water is crucial.
