Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 96688 - Scottish East Coast & Borders

We’ll be honest, the ‘Unnamed Shipwreck’ off the Scottish East Coast might not sound like much, but for us, it’s one of those dives that sticks. Forget your tropical reefs for a moment; this is proper exploration. What we love about these Scottish wrecks is the sheer sense of history you feel descending onto them. The water here often has that cool, green hue, and as the shape of the wreck slowly emerges, it’s genuinely captivating. You’re not going to find vibrant soft corals, but you will find structure – plates of metal, beams, and occasionally an intact section, all encrusted with dense carpets of anemones and hydroids. Our favourite is spotting the wolf fish peeking out from beneath a collapsed deck, or a curious grey seal giving you the once-over before disappearing into the gloom. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet drama of a historical site and the hardy life that makes it home. Definitely check tide times; slack water makes all the difference here.
