Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 96738 - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Canmore 96738 wreck, often just called "the Unnamed," is one of those dives we keep coming back to along the Scottish East Coast. It’s not about tropical colours here, it’s about the sheer history and the mood of the North Sea. Descending, you’re often met with that classic green hue, a visibility that demands you get close. We’ve found that the best dives are often on an incoming tide, just after slack, when the water can clear up a touch. What makes this wreck a standout for us is its broken, yet still substantial, character. There's enough structure to penetrate carefully, with beams and plates creating shadowed swim-throughs where conger eels lurk, their heads poking out from crevices. You’ll spot the usual suspects: plump wrasse nosing around the rust, edible crabs scuttling over corroded metal, and sometimes a curious seal might make a pass, their sleek bodies ghosting through the gloom. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet drama of a historical site and aren't afraid of a bit of chill.
