Wreck of Veritas - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Veritas. There's a name that just drips with maritime history, and this wreck off the Scottish East Coast lives up to it. We love a good piece of industrial archaeology, and the Veritas delivers on that front. It’s not just a pile of plates; you can still make out the strong lines of her hull, the sturdy ribs of what was once a working vessel. We’ve found ourselves tracing the ghostly outline of her bridge, imagining the crew on deck battling those North Sea squalls. Now, it’s home to a different kind of crew. The metalwork is draped in dead man's fingers, orange and white against the gloom, and we always spot velvet swimming crabs scuttling in the shadows. Look closer into the nooks and crannies, and you’ll often be rewarded with a blenny peering out, or even a ling lurking deeper within the structure. This isn't a dive for the faint of heart, or for those expecting Caribbean colours, but if you appreciate a wreck with a story, and a proper challenge, the Veritas is our pick. We’d suggest picking a slack tide, because the currents here can be a proper workout. Keep an eye on your bottom time; it’s easy to lose track exploring her bones.
