Wreck of Vigilant - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Diving the *Vigilant* is a proper adventure, the kind that reminds you why we love UK wreck diving. She’s a trawler, sitting upright on the seabed, pretty much intact considering the North Sea has been battering her for decades. We’ve always found a surprising amount of detail still visible – you can see her lines, the winch gear, and often the trawl doors lying out to the side like she just dropped them. The real charm here is the way marine life has completely taken over. Her superstructure is draped in plumose anemones, creating these incredible, soft white carpets that sway with the surge. Look closer, and you’ll spot velvet crabs tucked into every nook and cranny, and often a grumpy-looking wolf fish peering out from a dark corner. We always recommend taking your time here, really exploring the nooks. It’s a site that rewards patience, especially if you’re keen on photography – the light can be stunning on a sunny day, filtering through the water and illuminating the anemones. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart, given the conditions can be challenging, but for experienced cold-water wreck enthusiasts, it’s a standout.
