Wreck of Violet - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Violet is a wreck that really digs its heels in. We love it because it’s so well-preserved, standing upright and proud in about 20 metres of water. Dropping down, you’ll first see the bow, still impressively intact, pointing towards the surface. Swim aft and the bridge comes into view, its structure still discernible, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into. There are penetration opportunities for those with the right training, particularly into the engine room, which is often our favourite part, feeling like a step back in time. Look out for the resident crabs hunkering down in the darker corners and the occasional inquisitive wrasse darting through the superstructure. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration rather than speed, and while currents can pick up, we find the relatively sheltered position makes it accessible for most experienced recreational divers. Dive it on a slack tide for the calmest experience.
