Wreck of Weeke Harhuis - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Weeke Harhuis wreck on Scotland's East Coast is one of those dives that sticks with you, a proper metal hulk for divers who appreciate history and atmosphere. Descending onto her, we always feel that chill, the sheer scale of the ship emerging from the gloom. You're not looking for colourful corals here; you're looking for the story told by twisted metal and the life that's made it home. We love picking out the details – the huge anchor chains, the massive engine room, the occasional boiler still recognisable. It's a real explorer's wreck, with plenty of penetration opportunities if you're qualified and mindful of the silt. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where you often find conger eels peering from every dark recess, and ling seem to patrol the deeper sections. Visibility can be a challenge, so aim for neap tides and a calm spell for the best experience. It's a site for experienced wreck divers comfortable with colder water and limited visibility, but the rewards are immense.
