Z.Z.12 - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Z.Z.12 is a deep, moody dive, perfect for those who appreciate the quiet history beneath the waves. She’s a minesweeper, sitting upright and surprisingly intact at 58 metres, sunk under tow in 1946. We love the eerie stillness down there, the way the light fades to a deep blue, making her lines stand out in stark relief. Visibility can be changeable, typical for the North Sea, but when it’s good, you can make out the minesweeping gear, a testament to her working life. There’s a quiet beauty to the way her structure has become a home for life – we’ve seen ling tucked into shadowy corners, and squat lobsters scuttling across her decks. This isn’t a colourful coral reef, but a dive into a piece of wartime past, best suited for experienced technical divers comfortable with the depth and the chill. Plan your deco, respect the conditions, and she’ll reward you with a memorable journey back in time.
