FELICIA - Cape Town & Western Cape

We’re always chasing wrecks, and Felicia is a classic Cape Town experience, especially if you catch it on a good day. This old fishing trawler went down in ’73, taking on water in the forepeak, but thankfully everyone got off safely. Now, she rests upright in 33 metres, her mast still reaching for the surface – a proper dive. What we love about Felicia is the sense of history, how quickly nature reclaims these things. Expect to see shy sharks tucked into crevices, their eyes glinting. There are big hottentot darting around, and nudibranchs adding pops of colour to the rust. We’d suggest you take your time exploring the stern and bridge, looking for the smaller critters that have made this their home. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace, letting the story of the wreck unfold around you. Current can be a factor here, so pick your day carefully, aiming for minimal surge for the best visibility. When it’s calm, you can really appreciate the structure, the way the light filters through the water onto the hull.
