RAMBOK - Cape Town & Western Cape

Rambok is a brilliant Cape Town dive, especially when the weather plays nice. We love a good wreck, and this old barge, sunk in 1994, is a classic example of how quickly the ocean reclaims things. You’ll find it lying in about 11 metres, not too deep, which means decent bottom time and good light penetration on a sunny day. What strikes you first is the sheer amount of invertebrate life clinging to every surface. Anemones, sponges, and nudibranchs are everywhere, a real macro feast if you take your time. Fish life isn’t shy either; you’ll often spot a few resident hottentot and strepies darting through the superstructure. It’s a comfortable dive, not much current usually, making it perfect for newer divers getting their first taste of a proper wreck. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light is softer and sometimes the visibility holds up better before the wind kicks in. Keep an eye out for octopus tucked away in crevices, they’re often there if you look closely.
