With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - Steps offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
Steps is one of Cape Town’s more reliable shore dives, especially when conditions elsewhere are tricky. You’ll fin out over a sandy bottom, keeping an eye out for shy short-tail stingrays and the resident shy shark population. The main feature here is a series of sandstone steps, forming ledges and overhangs that harbour small octopus and various nudibranchs. It’s a good spot for newer divers getting used to the local conditions, or anyone keen on macro life.
