Buceo Norte - Canary Islands

Buceo Norte is one of those sites we always come back to in the Canaries. It doesn't scream for attention like some of its flashier neighbours, but it consistently delivers. Drop in, and you're immediately greeted by the usual suspects, but keep your eyes peeled for the real treasures. We love the rocky ledges here, perfect for spotting common octopus camouflaged against the dark stone. Look closely, and you might just catch a glimpse of a devilfish or a grumpy dusky grouper eyeing you from its hidey-hole. Our favourite time to dive Buceo Norte is mid-morning, just after the sun starts to properly penetrate the water, illuminating the vibrant emerald wrasse flitting between the rocks. It’s a site that rewards patience. We've often found ourselves hovering, watching a painted comber darting in and out, or a sharpnose puffer making its way along the seabed. If you’re into macro life, those European fan-worms are worth a close look, too. Buceo Norte is a proper, solid dive, ideal for those who prefer observation over adrenaline.
