CB Timanfaya - Canary Islands

The *CB Timanfaya* wreck, off the Canary Islands, truly is a standout dive for us. We love how it’s basically an artificial reef, but with a real sense of history. Dropping down, you’re greeted by the ghostly outline of the old fishing boat, now completely enveloped in marine growth. It’s like exploring an underwater art installation, where every surface tells a story of transformation. We'd suggest keeping an eye out for the resident Round Fantail Stingrays, often found settled in the sand nearby, and the Ornate Wrasses darting through the superstructure. Our favourite bits are the engine room, which is surprisingly accessible, and the bridge, where you can still imagine the captain at the helm. Visibility can be excellent here, sometimes pushing 30 metres, which makes the wreck feel even more dramatic. It’s not a super deep dive, so it suits advanced open water divers who appreciate a good wreck and want to spend time exploring its nooks and crannies. If you go on a calmer day, the light filtering through the water onto the wreck creates an almost ethereal glow, really bringing the scene to life.
