CHIEN CHUEN NO 6 - Canary Islands

The *Chien Chuen No. 6* is a wreck we always recommend if you’re diving Gran Canaria. It’s a fishing trawler, sunk back in ‘85, and she sits upright on a sandy bottom, broken into two main sections. We love that you can drop straight onto the bridge, often with schools of barracuda hanging in the blue just off the stern. This isn’t a wreck for penetration, but there’s plenty to explore externally. Look for the engine room, now a busy apartment block for moray eels, and keep an eye on the sand for angel sharks. The sheer volume of life here is impressive, with big groups of damselfish clinging to the superstructure and jacks cruising the deck. The bow section, in particular, has become a real focal point for smaller reef fish. It’s an easy dive, generally with calm conditions, making it a great pick for newer wreck divers or those wanting a relaxed second dive. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light can be fantastic then, filtering through the water and illuminating the bow.
