FAN Diving - Canary Islands

FAN Diving is one of those sites we always recommend, especially for photographers. The dive starts with a short swim out to a wall that drops down past 20 meters, but the real magic is shallower. We’ve found some incredible macro subjects tucked into the crevices – those Mediterranean slipper lobsters are always a treat to spot, and you’ll often see sharpnose puffers peeking out from under ledges. The resident schools of bogue and damselfish are thick, shimmering silver as they move, creating a fantastic backdrop. Keep an eye out in the blue for the larger visitors too; we’ve had some memorable encounters with Atlantic spotted dolphins here, and even a fleeting glimpse of an orca once – though that’s definitely not an everyday occurrence. The visibility is generally good, often 20 meters or more, and the site is relatively protected from strong currents, making it a comfortable dive for extended bottom times. We always suggest going in the morning before any wind picks up; the light is softer and brings out the colours beautifully. It's a relaxed dive that consistently delivers interesting encounters, whether you’re hunting for a tiny wrasse or hoping for a dolphin fly-by.
