Hole in the Wall - Canary Islands

We’ve always had a soft spot for wall dives, and Hole in the Wall really delivers. Dropping down, the sheer face is alive with activity. Painted combers dart into crevices while schools of Oman porgy shimmer in the blue. Look closely in the cracks and you might spot a well-camouflaged Madeira rock-fish, or even a bastard eel peeking out. Our favourite part? Moving through the namesake hole itself, a narrow passage that opens into a different section of the wall. It’s a moment of delightful compression, then expansion. The site is great for divers who appreciate a good drift, as currents can be noticeable here. Keep an eye out for larger pelagics in the blue; we've heard whispers of Cuvier's beaked whales and Atlantic spotted dolphins passing through, though we've only ever seen the occasional yellow barracuda cruise by ourselves. This is a dive for those who enjoy exploration and don't mind a bit of a current to keep things interesting.
