Meteor, Arguineguin, Gran Canaria - Canary Islands

The Meteor wreck off Arguineguin is one of our favourite easy dives on Gran Canaria, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. Sitting upright at a comfortable 16 metres, this old fishing boat is surprisingly intact, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to explore without feeling confined. We love drifting through the hold, seeing the light filter in through the open deck hatches, and imagining the catches it once held. It’s a fantastic spot for spotting smaller reef fish – think trumpetfish hovering motionless, or schools of damselfish flitting around the rigging. Look closely and you’ll often find an octopus tucked away in a shadowed corner. For photographers, the Meteor offers some lovely wide-angle shots, especially when the sun is high and illuminates the whole structure. It's a forgiving dive, ideal for newer wreck divers or anyone wanting to practice buoyancy in a calm, interesting setting.
