NUEVA UNION - Canary Islands

The *Nueva Union* is a fantastic, deeper dive for those comfortable with their buoyancy and penetration skills. We’ve always found a quiet calm descending onto this trawler, sunk in 1974. She sits upright at 60 metres, remarkably intact. You drop down onto the wheelhouse, which is still largely there. The mast lies broken across the deck, creating some interesting swim-throughs, and we love exploring the hold. It’s dark in there, so good lights are essential, but the light filtering in from the open hatches is quite something. Look for the massive schools of barracuda that often hang around the wreck, sometimes so thick you can barely see the bow. We’ve also spotted some chunky groupers lurking in the shadows. The currents here can be unpredictable, so pick a calm day. This isn’t a site for beginners; you’ll want proper deep diving experience and maybe even a rebreather to truly appreciate the time down there. It’s a proper expedition, and that’s why we keep coming back.
