OLETA - Canary Islands

Oleta, off Punta Hidalgo, Tenerife, offers a decent dive for wreck enthusiasts. This motor vessel went down in 1972, and while she's a non-dangerous wreck, she still sits at a respectable 50m. We found her well-colonised by the usual suspects – plenty of small reef fish like damselfish and blennies darting in and out of the superstructure. It's a sombre but intriguing dive, best suited for experienced divers comfortable with deeper profiles. You can explore the deck and the remains of the bridge, though much has collapsed over the years. We'd suggest going on a calm day; the currents here can pick up, making the descent a bit of a workout.
